Cognate Chord

Cognate Chord – a chord reference and practice companion

Dial in a chord and Cognate Chord holds it - with a range of voices from strings and synth pad to tanpura drone. It fades when you stop playing and ducks when you do, staying out of the way until you need it.

Cognate Chord lets you choose a key and chord, then plays it with one of four beautiful sustained sounds – synth pad, strings, tanpura or Hammond organ, all with subtle movement and character so you won’t get bored listening to them.

Choose from Open, Wide or High voicing so that Cognate Chord can fit around your target range. Shape the brightness with the Tone control. Includes all the common pop, rock and jazz chord types across one, two and three octave voicings.

Autofade gradually fades out the backing when you stop playing, and brings it back in when you start. Pair this with Ducking which turns down the chord when you play, and you have a natural accompaniment that rises and falls in waves to meet your notes.

Use it to lock in chord tones, run scales and modes in context, or train your ear against a reliable harmonic reference. Fretless and double bass players can use it for intonation work without needing a backing track. Assign two different chords to Anagram footswitches to move through a progression hands-free. Pairs naturally with Cognate Metro (free on the Anagram Marketplace) for an all-in-the-box practice solution.

Practice that fits how you play.
